What is ContractRecruit?
ContractRecruit is a unique job board, specialising solely in IT Contract positions. Our site contains features unlike any other, designed with the Contractor in mind, to make the search for your next Contract easier than ever before.

I’ve forgotten my password, how do I log in?
Please select the ‘Forgot Your Password’ link underneath the login module, then enter your email address and we will send you an email allowing you to reset your password. Select the link in the email and follow the instructions. Still having problems? Please get in touch.

How can I give ContractRecruit Feedback?
We really appreciate feedback at ContractRecruit and anything that can make our service better for you we’d like to hear about! On most pages you’ll find a feedback tab on the left hand side of the page, please fill it out and send it off, we’ll do our utmost to act on your suggestions however big or small!

Is it free to sign up?
Yes, ContractRecruit is free to sign up for and all features offered will be free for ever!

How do I change my email address?
Changing your email address is easy, go to ‘My Home’ and underneath your Completion Percentage there is a link that reads ‘Edit My Profile’. Click this and you will be given the option to change all of your details, include both your Primary and Secondary email addresses. Please note that when changing your email address it will be the new email you login with.

How does Contracting differ to Permanent work?
Contracting has many benefits, such as better pay and more freedom however it also has disadvantages. For a more in depth answer please look at our advice page to find out the advantages and disadvantages of contracting.

Why should I fill out my profile?
You should fill out every possible detail in your Profile as the first impression a Recruiter will get of you on ContractRecruit is when they find you in their Contractor Search results. Your profile details are displayed to them when they find you in these results.

How do I change the details on my profile?
You are able to change your profile details anytime in the My Admin section located in the toolkit. Add or edit any information you want and press save. This will be updated automatically and searchable for recruiters.

How do I delete my profile completely from ContractRecruit?
If you have started a contract and you want to de-activate your account there is no need. With ContractTimer you’re able to set the length of your new contract and decide when you would like your details to be visible. If however you wish to deactivate your account then please head to 'My Admin' then select 'Manage Settings' and click the 'Close Account' button. If you wish to re-activate your account please contact us. To delete your profile entirely please get in touch and we’ll remove all of your details from our records.

Why should I add my CV and Cover Letter?
Recruiters want to see your CV to get an idea of who you are and if you’re right for the role they are looking to recruit. If you do not provide a CV you will not be visible in any Recruiter searches. Adding a cover letter saves you time as your cover letter is stored and can be attached to any job you apply for.

How do I upload my CV?
When you first sign up you are taken to the 'Profile Form'. Underneath the ContractMap section you will find the 'Upload CV and Cover Letter' button. Select this to upload your CV. If you wish to change your CV you must head to 'My Admin' and go to the 'Manage CV's' section. From here you can add another CV and delete your old one.

How do I receive jobs by email?
To receive jobs by email conduct a job search, refine the results to find the jobs that you want, and then click ‘Save Search’. When you do this type the name of the search, and tick the ‘Email me jobs like this’ check box. Click save, you will then receive an email daily with all new Contracts meeting your search criteria.

The jobs I am receiving by email are not what I am looking for, how do I stop them?
When you receive a job email there is an unsubscribe button in the email. Click this button and these emails will stop. If you wish to set up another jobs by email follow the answer above on ‘How do I receive jobs by email’.

How do I make sure that Recruiters don’t contact me when I am on a Contract?
At ContractRecruit we know how frustrating it is to be called constantly when you are working. Tell us when your current Contract ends and we will make sure that your details aren’t visible until exactly when you want them to be, be that two weeks, one week, or one day before your Contract ends. You can even keep your details hidden or visible at all times if you wish however we wouldn’t advise this as you’ll never be contacted about opportunities.

How do I search for Jobs?
There are a couple of ways to search for jobs, we have a quick search on the Home Page as well a more advance search on the Job Search Page. Both have been designed to make your contract job search simple and to maximise your chances of finding the best position for you.  To ensure your search is getting you the best results, be as specific as possible. Give in depth detail on the type of role you’re looking for including, Job title, Main Skills, Location and Rate (using ContractMap) and Contract Specifics such as Industry Sector you’d like to work in and The size of company you’d like to work in. If you have no preference to any of these fields just leave it blank and we’ll show you all contracts!

What is Boolean Search and how is it used?
With the use of Boolean Search you’re able to be more specific with your contract search. There are 3 main search terms:

AND
When using AND in your search all words before and after will appear in the search results
Example Search
C++ AND SQL – both C++ and SQL will appear in the results.
OR
When using OR in your search either words either side of OR will appear in the search
Example Search
GUI OR “Graphical User Interface” – Both Terms are searched and included in the results
NOT
When using NOT Words used after NOT will not appear in the search
Example Search
C NOT C# - C will be included in the search results C# will not

What is ContractMap?
ContractMap is a great new way to plot the area you’re willing to work; this means no more calls about unsuitable Contracts! You’re able to tell the companies hiring exactly where you’d travel and for what money. Moved House? Not a problem you can always edit ContractMap in Your Admin Section, be sure to change your postcode to reposition your home marker.

How do I find out more information on the Role?
The information provided in the job adverts are published by the recruiter hiring. If you’d like to find out more about the position feel free to give the recruiter a phone call if their details are visible on ContractRecruit.

Can I keep track of contracts I’ve applied for?
Yes – We think it is very important you’re able to see details of contracts you’ve recently applied for, meaning you can chase potential leads. In your contract home click he toolkit and then the My Applications options.  From here you’re able to see the company you applied to, see the role you applied for and email the advertiser meaning you can keep on top of all your applications.

Why have I not had a response to my application?
Unfortunately it is sometimes the case that you will not get any response from the recruiter you sent your application to. ContractRecruit actively encourages companies and individuals hiring to respond to applications however it is not always possible. We can only extend our apologies on behalf of the recruiter if this is the case.

Why can’t I log in to my account?
Make sure that you are logging in to the Recruiter login and not Contractor login. The Recruiter login can be found on the Home Page, in the Recruiter drop-down at the top of the page. Also check that you are using the correct password. If you cannot remember this, you can request an email to reset your password, simply click the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link.

My company have a number of users on ContractRecruit, and I want my colleague to be the account administrator, how do I do this?
Open the Toolkit and select ‘Your Admin’. From there select ‘Manage Settings’, on this page you can see a list of all users, simply press the ‘Make Admin’ button next to the user you wish to make the account administrator. Please note: only the current Administrator can change this.

My colleagues want their own ContractRecruit account, do we need a new account or can we add users to my current one?
You can add sub-users to your account instead of having to make a whole new one. To do this you will need to be on a Premium or Enterprise package. The Premium package allows up to 3 sub-users and the Enterprise package allows unlimited sub-users. To view and upgrade your package please click here.

How do I edit my Profile?
Editing and keeping your profile up to date is an important part of your ContractRecruit experience. To edit your profile click ‘My Home’, then click the ‘Edit My Profile’ button.

My Company Logo is not displaying correctly, what can I do?
Company logos are displayed in a square shaped box. To achieve optimum quality we suggest creating a logo of 140x140 pixels.

What is the CV Database?
Our CV database is full of IT contractor’s CVs. As a Recruiter user you have unlimited access to this database, we know you’ll find a contractor that suits your needs quickly and easily. To search through the CVs go to 'Your Search' and perform a 'Keyword' search.

What is the toolkit?
The Toolkit is an integral part of ContractRecruit, providing you with quick access to every section you will need. Whether you want to conduct a search, setup a watchdog, or administrate your account, you can do it through the Toolkit. When you have logged in the Toolkit is visible on every page, just press the Toolkit arrow at the top of the page.

Can I conduct a quick search for contractors?
Making a quick search for a Contractor on ContractRecruit is easy. Simply select the Recruiter drop down tab at the top of the Home Page and conduct your search. You do not need to be signed in to perform a quick search making it easy for you to check the suitability of the candidates before signing in.

How do I search for candidates?
Our Contractor search function can be found in the Toolkit. Select ‘Your Search’ and fill in as many, or as little, of the criteria boxes that you want. The more you fill in the more refined your search becomes. For full search details please see our Contractor Search Help Page.

What is Boolean Search and how does it work?
With the use of Boolean Search you’re able to be more specific with your contract search. There are 3 main search terms.

Can I receive CV alerts by email?
Yes you can, we have a watchdog section where you’re able to enter your search criteria and you’ll be sent contractors who match your search result as soon as they register their CV. Please see our Watchdog Help Page.

Can I view my downloaded CVs again?
Yes, you can re-visit a contractors profile and download their CV as many times you like.

Why can’t I view a Contractor’s contact details?
When a Contractor is currently working they can choose to have their contact details hidden until they are reaching the end of their contract. You can Watch a Contractor and receive an email alert when their Contract is reaching an end, and their details become visible.

I have posted a job but can’t find it in a job search, why is this?
All posted Contracts are screened by the moderators to check that they are genuine IT Contracts. While this does not take long, it means that your job won’t appear on the site for a few minutes.

I have posted a job, how do I edit it?
Open the Toolkit and select ‘Manage Jobs’, from there you can view, edit and delete all of your current jobs.

How much does it cost to post a job?
When you have an account you can add as many jobs as you want for free. Your paid membership includes unlimited job postings every month. You’re able to post a featured job which is displayed on our home page next to your company logo and will be visible to all contractors that visit the site. The cost to have a featured contract on the home page is £49.95 and it will be displayed for 1 week.

I noticed that you have a recruiter mobile app, how do I get it?
We’ve developed a mobile app so you’ve got ContractRecruit wherever you go. This gives you instant access to all that ContractRecruit has to offer at your finger-tips. It is easy to download, and it is published in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, just search 'ContractRecruit' and download!
